So many THANK YOUS to all the extraordinary people I have had the honor to work and collaborate with. You bring juice and joy to my life and I learn so much from each of you. LILY FORBES has been built on a foundation of incredible friendships and mentors, a loving and supportive family, and many lessons I am grateful for. Loud shout outs to the kind, integrous, lively and loving people who allow me to build this dream of mine. Thank you thank you thank you thank you. --Lily Forbes Shafroth
We are so excited to welcome Detroit-based designer LILY FORBES to the mix here at Supernatural!
All LILY FORBES pieces are produced with a fair trade production house in Delhi, India, employing women facing caste discrimination and providing health and educational services.
All LILY FORBES fabric is intentionally sourced, with the environment and worker-wellbeing at the forefront of decision-making. The cotton pieces produced to date are 100% hand woven by the Ali family (4 generations) outside of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Heritage weaving is an important part of the local economy and history, and sadly, is a dying craft.
The Ali family weaves cloth specifically for LILY FORBES with fibers naturally dyed in a small, family-run, safe, clean facility in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The cotton threads are dyed by third generation natural dyer, Mahesh.
The hand woven silk pieces are AZO free and handwoven with a Fair Trade house in Bihar or produced from recycled/vintage silk.
The silk slips are produced in Los Angeles, and the remnant silk organza robes are all made right here in Detroit, Michigan.
Lily has visited all facilities she sources from to ensure production is completely transparent and ethical.
